How did you become interested in dance?
I became interested in dance at a young age. Growing up, it was the only thing that ever stuck with me that I knew I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life. I was involved in a local dance studio as well as attending a school for the arts for middle and high school, where I majored in dance.

What kind of career do you hope to have?ā€‹
I hope to become a professional dancer for part of my career. Then, I hope to work in arts advocacy with a focus on making dance accessible to people of various backgrounds. I want to open a dance studio or safe space where people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to dance can come and express themselves freely.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Dance?ā€‹
My favorite thing about the Department of Dance is the community aspect. I feel connected to other students in the program, and I feel as if we collectively support each other on our individual journeys.

Do you have any merit scholarships? If so, can you talk about that experience?
I am a Martin Scholar. The program has provided me with the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and advisors that are always pushing me to strive beyond my comfort zone. Iā€™m also a part of the University Honors Program where I can establish a more critical understanding of my role within the University and Charlotte community by utilizing a scholarly approach. The Honors College allows me to challenge my ideals and academia in a way that ultimately contributes to my personal growth.

When you are not in class, studying, working, or rehearsing, what do you like to do for fun?ā€‹
I like to spend time with my family and friends, catch up on my favorite TV shows, and scroll through Twitter.
