How did you become interested in architecture?
As an undergraduate, I felt torn between the natural sciences and art. I was excited to find architecture as a young adult because it’s a field where I can use both the creative and analytical sides of my brain in order to do something worthwhile. It’s the best of both worlds!

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to help create ecologically sustainable buildings that are beautiful and healthy to inhabit. I am also interested in research and education.

What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the School of Architecture?
My favorite thing about the School of Architecture is the faculty. The professors are interesting, knowledgeable, and supportive. They represent diverse backgrounds and interests, and I love the way they challenge us to think critically, design thoughtfully, and continuously grow. The SoA community is a special one.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
I have worked as a research assistant, teaching assistant, and communication consultant since joining the SoA. I really love working with the undergraduate students because they are full of good ideas and they always make me laugh when we talk about how hard and fun architecture school is.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I like DIY home projects and hiking trips with my dogs!
