Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in the arts/design?
My Dad is an architect so growing up I saw what he did and would work for him in the summer and eventually was convinced this was the field I needed to be in.
Why did you apply to the Arts + Architecture Honors Program?
I wanted to take on the challenge of pursuing an extra project where I was the one creating constraints and organizing my ideas. It was a unique experience to be able to design my own prompt and find creative ways to execute it.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
Being a part of the iPAL program at UNCC has motivated me to become a licensed architect and obtain LEED accreditation. I would ultimately love to spend time practicing internationally in London, Berlin, or Rome and return to the United States to create my own small practice while also teaching at a University.
What is your favorite thing about the School of Architecture?
I love the sense of community created by the School of Architecture. Everyone comes together to discuss projects and figure out new methods of creating and I think it’s an incredible system to be a part of. I've formed friendships that will last for years and years to come.
Do you participate in any community cultural activities or work in the Charlotte arts or design community?
I’m a part of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and served as the NCARB Student Licensing advisor for the 2019-2020 year. I participated in the Rome Semester Abroad Program and am an Architectural History and Criticism Minor.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I played for the UNC Charlotte club volleyball team for 4 years, but I also like to play beach and grass volleyball. I just started coaching at a local juniors volleyball club which was a lot of fun.
