How did you become interested in music?
I became involved in music at a very young age. I have an older sister who went to college for music education as well. She had me sitting at the piano with her when I was only two years old, so I grew up with music playing a huge role in my life. I would go to all of her concerts and sing with her at home. I was always inspired to be just like my big sister. I started piano lessons at age 7 and later joined my middle school and high school band. I started in percussion and then moved to trombone. I was also highly involved in choir. I have always had a huge passion for music and it brings me great joy to have the opportunity to teach it to others.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to hold a position as a choir director at either a high school or middle school program. Additionally, I would like to begin my master's degree in music once I complete undergrad. It has always been my dream to be a collegiate professor of music one day.

What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the Department of Music?
My favorite thing about the UNC Charlotte Department of Music has to be the professors. Every professor that I've had has been so helpful and inspiring. The welcoming environment that they create is something that I would like to carry into my classroom one day. It is very apparent that they want each and every student to grow and succeed in all that they do.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
From freshman year to the end of my junior year, I held a position as the soprano choral scholar at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Charlotte, NC. This was such an amazing opportunity. Not only did I get to be a part of another wonderful ensemble, but it really helped me in becoming a better performer. If any other students get an opportunity to work in a church in the area, do it!

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
When I am not in class, studying, or working, I most enjoy spending time with my fiancé. I love going on coffee runs and, strangely enough, I love cleaning during my free time.
