Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Concentration in Cello Performance; Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a Concentration in Cybersecurity
2021

How did you become interested in music?
I have always known I loved music. I started music classes when I was about five years old. I learned how to read and write music almost at the same time as I did words and letters. I started playing the violin when I was six years old and then found my true passion, the cello.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
As a double major this is always a tough question. I study Computer Science so I hope to have a career in Cybersecurity, but I always knew I wanted music to be in my life in some way. It elevates my ability to concentrate and express my feelings. I really believe the arts help us achieve excellence.

What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the Department of Music?
Ever since I enrolled at UNC Charlotte and walked the halls at Robinson, I always felt like it was my home away from home. I felt really welcome by the faculty and the program and how inclusive it was.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
I’ve had the pleasure of being part of the UNC Charlotte Orchestra for the past couple of years, and it has been such a rich experience, especially going through COVID-19 as an ensemble – learning to bond through online lectures and playing together while wearing masks and socially distancing.
