How did you become interested in theatre?
I grew up in a musical family. Singing, dancing, and performing of some sort were just normal for me. I loved to pretend to be different characters I would see on TV and goof off with my cousins putting on little skits and plays for our parents. It wasn't until I went to a performing arts summer camp, when I was seven years old, that I learned all about theatre. From there, my love for theatre and the arts grew stronger as I got to high school and became an active member of the Hillside High School Drama Department. I've had the most amazing opportunities to travel the world and meet others in the industry because of it, and I will always be grateful for that experience.

What kind of career do you hope to have?
As an actress, I think everyone's goal is to achieve significant milestones, but for me, I think it's so much more than that. I plan on having a career that's not just about the awards and accolades. I want my work to be inspiring and push for the representation of Black women in the arts community. I want it to be about how I helped leave the door open for those coming after me. After this year and everything we've all experienced, we know that there is so much more work to be done. I plan to be a part of that change, create spaces for conversation, and be in those rooms where our voices are not just heard but valued.

What is your favorite thing about the Department of Theatre?
Being a part of this Department of Theatre has been such a great experience. In the past year, I've gained so many friendships and have worked with some talented people. I would have to say the community is my favorite part. Not just from my peers, but from the faculty and staff as well. Everyone is so supportive of your journey no matter what area of theatre you're in.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community?
Currently, I'm a member of the Student Advisory Committee for the Department of Theatre. Outside of the theatre department, I'm a part of UNC Charlotte's chapter of Intervarsity and a member of Nikao Church, serving on their marketing team. I'm looking forward to getting back to campus to learn more about the Charlotte community and the many ways to serve and help others.

When you are not in class, studying, working, or rehearsing, what do you like to do for fun?
When I'm not in class, studying, or working, I like to travel, spend time with friends and family, listen to music, and cook.
