Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in architecture?

I am from a very small town in New Jersey, but my favorite place in the world is New York City. I became interested in architecture when I thought about putting my mark on the NYC skyline. The idea that one day, I could walk by a building that I played a part in designing is an incredible concept to me.

What kind of career do you hope to have?

My dream as an architect would be to become a Disney Imagineer. The Imagineering team is responsible for the creation, design, and construction of the Disney parks worldwide. Disney has always been a magical place for me to visit, and I want to be a part of an organization can bring happiness to everyone who encounters it.

What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the SoA?

Architecture is constantly evolving and a large part of that evolution happens in schools. Students involved with the arts need an education that promotes experimentation and exploration and above all service through design. I chose to attend UNC Charlotte because the university provided opportunities and encouraged me to pursue my passion.

Do you participate in any community cultural activities, internships, or work in the Charlotte design community? If so, please describe.

Early on, I became involved with the American Institute of Architecture Students. I did so to establish myself here at school because members understand their role in the profession as leaders. Something I have learned from three years of involvement with this organization is that architecture does not only concern itself with the future of the profession but also the present day. To promote excellence in architecture, AIAS also supports many subprograms like Freedom by Design, CRIT and the Grassroots mentorship. These organizations have all empowered me and other members to establish their role in the profession and leave an impact on society. As a former Tresurer and President, I feel as if the overall position as an officer is what I find the most gratifying from this experience.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?

Outside of class, I enjoy a wide variety of activities. I love to go to the movies with friends, paint, and swim whenever I have free time.
