Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in the arts/design?
I’m a non-traditional student who decided to earn my bachelor’s degree in my 30’s. Art has always been a part of my life. I can remember getting into trouble for drawing on my class assignments. I've always thought that art leads to happiness, that it can turn a depressing situation into something of hope. Art is all around us, it moves us and shapes us. Art is a part of life which is why I am interested in art. I want to bring more joy to the world.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope for a career that will allow me to explore new opportunities. To bring different perspectives of art, that I have gained through the influence of UNC Charlotte and as well as personal experience. A career that will allow me to grow and become part of its family.
What is your favorite thing about the College of Arts & Architecture?
My favorite thing about the UNC Charlotte College of Arts has to be the professors. I never met a more loving and caring group of individuals. They push you to achieve limits that you may have thought yourself unrealistic. They inspire me to want to continue exploring different methods and techniques of art. Also, to continue expanding the knowledge that I had gained.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
For fun, I like to be surrounded by nature or traveling to learn about different cultures. You gain so much by actually experiencing how others live versus watching it on tv or reading.
