How did you become interested in architecture?
I have been in love with art my whole life, and I am good at math, so architecture seemed like the perfect middle ground!

What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to have a long career full of urban building design and artistic design/build projects, like pavilions. I also hope to be fortunate enough to design free housing that will combat the homelessness epidemic.

What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the School of Architecture?
My favorite thing about being in the School of Architecture at UNC Charlotte is the unique perspective and compassion of my professors who have been a part of the art and architecture field for years. I also am thankful that I attend school in a city that is growing and has plenty of opportunities to build my architecture career.

Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts/design community?
I am a member of the Student Liaison Advisory Panel (SLAP) for the SoA. I was also a member of the Memorial Design Jury that assisted the Chancellor in choosing a permanent memorial for the events of April 30, 2019.

If you are in the Arts + Architecture Honors Program, please tell one thing that you have gained from that program.
Being a member of the Arts + Architecture Honors Program has introduced me to topics of interest I wouldn’t have otherwise had access to, a privilege of which I am very thankful for. The program has also brought me great friends from other artistic disciplines whose perspectives have positively impacted my work.

When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
When I am not in class, studying, or working, I like to paint and draw! Other times, I love spending time with my friends. I also participate in the Black Student Union, a student organization on campus, where I have hosted a ‘Paint and Sip’ event.
