Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in the arts?
Hello, I am Tori! I am 20 years old and an Aries. I am the second child in a family of four (meaning the baby.) My interest in theatre started when I was very young. I was probably four or five when I decided that I wanted to be an actress. As I grew up, I realized I was too much of an awkward butterfly to perform on stage. So my focus shifted to behind the scenes work. I started my career in theatre during my freshman year of high school when I was asked to be assistant stage-manager for the fall production for the upcoming year. From then on, my participation in theatre vastly increased. I began to work in the scenic shop, as a lighting and sound designer, a costume tech, and then eventually a stage manager.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I would love to be a professional Stage Manager for touring shows.
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Theatre?
My favorite thing about this theatre department the number of opportunities offered to both acting students, but also design and directing students.
Do you participate in any community activities or work in the Charlotte arts community? If so, please describe it.
Yes, recently, I started taking classes at Air Clt which is an aerial class that works with lyria, silks, trapeze, and other circus techniques.
When you are not in class, studying, working or rehearsing, what do you like to do for fun?
I am probably reading a script or taking my dog Maple on hikes. I also enjoy building furniture and recently have started fixing up houses.
