Admission into the Department of Music is dependent upon admittance into the University. Please visit the Admissions website to apply to UNC Charlotte.

The UNC Charlotte Department of Music will be holding video auditions for music majors and select minors throughout the year. The Department of Music is not accepting auditions for minors in voice and percussion at this time.

Submission Deadlines

December 7, 2020 (entrance to the Department in Spring 2021)

February 15, 2021* (primary review of auditions for entrance to the Department in Fall 2021)

March 15th, 2021 (second review of auditions for entrance to the Department in Fall 2021)

April 15, 2021 (third review of auditions for entrance to the Department in Fall 2021)

May 3, 2021 (final review of auditions for entrance to the Department in Fall 2021) 

*Final date for Department of Music scholarship consideration. Scholarship applications must be submitted through the NinerScholars Portal. Prospective students may also apply for scholarships offered outside of the Department through the portal.

Submit your audition information and video link(s) using this audition form. When recording your audition videos, please be sure to use a quiet, well lit space and set the camera so that you and your instrument (if applicable) can be clearly seen. Additional information regarding repertoire requirements is available below. 
 
Scholarships

In order to be considered for a music scholarship, interested students must create a profile in the NinerScholars Portal and audition by the scholarship consideration date listed above. Additional information is available on our Scholarships page.

Audition Repertoire

Students auditioning for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music or the Minor in Music should prepare one short piece of the student's choosing following the Audition Repertoire for Bachelor of Arts Degree or Music Performance Minor Guidelines.

Student's auditioning for any concentration within the Bachelor of Music degree who have fewer than four semesters of college-level lessons should follow the Repertoire Guidelines for Students Auditioning for Lower-Division Study (Freshman/Sophomore Level). 

Students auditioning for any concentration within the Bachelor of Music degree who have four or more semesters of college-level lessons should follow the Repertoire Guidelines for Students Auditioning for Upper-Division Study (Junior/Senior Level)

Campus tours are available through Admissions. Register for a campus tour and for more information about undergraduate admissions. Incoming students are required to attend a summer Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) program for advising and registration for fall classes.
