Part-Time Lecturer, Architecture History

After completing the graduate program in urban design (MUD) at UNC Charlotte in 2017, May Khalife moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, to pursue a Ph.D. degree in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati. This graduate program concentrates on the History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture. May also completed a graduate certificate in historic preservation, which allowed her to delve into studies in cultural heritage, urban planning, and preservation of historic districts. Her research concentrates on the development of postwar architecture and the architectural networks unfolding between Britain and the United States. Focusing on the built environment, she investigates forms of resistance in marginalized groups as well as the role of the vernacular, the regional, and the popular in architecture and in urban studies. May is also a part-time lecturer at the University of Cincinnati and Miami University in Ohio.
