**The admissions cycle for Fall 2021 is now closed. The process for Fall 2022 will open in October. **
Admissions Process

For questions regarding the admissions process, please contact SoA-Admissions @uncc.edu or Undergraduate Program Director Greg Snyder at gsnyder@uncc.edu.

Admission to the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture program in the School of Architecture is a competitive, Fall-only process. It requires two separate application and admission processes:

Step 1: Application to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte:

  • First apply to UNC Charlotte prior to the application deadline of February 1st.

  • Designate "Architecture" as intended major.

  • Pay the UNC Charlotte application fee.

  • Monitor your UNC Charlotte application to ensure that all supplemental materials (test scores, transcripts, recommendations, etc.) are received by the admissions deadline.

  • Skip to step 2 if you are already enrolled as a student at UNC Charlotte.

Step 2: Application to the School of Architecture (SoA):

  • The SoA Admissions cycle begins October 1st.

  • Complete the SoA Application Portfolio using these guidelines. Email completed application portfolio in one PDF to SoA-Admissions@uncc.edu.

  • Early applications are given priority in the SoA admissions process. Deadlines are as follows:

    • Early Action/Priority Review: November 1st
    • Standard Review: December 1st
    • Final Review: February 1st
Important Reminders
  • The SoA admits students for Fall semester only.

  • The admissions process is competitive and not all students are selected.

  • Do not wait for a final decision from the university before applying to the SoA; you can apply to both at once.

  • If you apply to the SoA, but your application to UNC Charlotte remains incomplete after February 1st, you will not be eligible for admission to the SoA.

  • Application portfolios that do not meet the specifications outlined in the SoA Application Portfolio Guidelines document will not be evaluated.

Individual Interviews

Based on a review of your academic standing and SoA application portfolio, you may be selected for an individual interview. During the 30-minute virtual interview you will be asked to discuss work presented through your digital portfolio. If selected, you will receive further instructions on how to schedule an interview and attend a virtual Open House.

Open House

Open House events have been scheduled for the current admissions cycle. Open House events will take place over Zoom on the following days:

Friday, November 20th, 9:30am: https://uncc.zoom.us/j/99094209591

Friday, January 15th, 9:30am: https://uncc.zoom.us/j/92515840350

Friday, February 12th, 9:30am: https://uncc.zoom.us/j/91779961724

Final Decisions

Applicants must be admitted to UNC Charlotte before they can be admitted to the SoA. If an applicant does not get selected for an interview, they will be not be selected for admission to the program. If you are not admitted to the SoA, your acceptance to the University remains unchanged. You may still choose to enroll at UNC Charlotte and pursue another course of study. You may also choose to reapply for admission the following year. Final decisions regarding admission to the SoA or placement on the waitlist will be made before May 1st. A limited number of applicants from the waitlist may be notified of acceptance over the summer if seats become available. All decisions will be communicated via email.
