Admissions Process

Admission to the Bachelor of Arts in Architecture program in the School of Architecture is a competitive, Fall-only process. It requires two separate application and admission processes: 

Step 1: Application to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte:

• First apply to UNC Charlotte prior to the application deadline of February 1^st.

• Designate "Architecture" as intended major.

• Pay the UNC Charlotte application fee.

• Monitor your UNC Charlotte application to ensure that all supplemental materials (test scores, transcripts, recommendations, etc.) are received by the admissions deadline.

• Skip to step 2 if you are already enrolled as a student at UNC Charlotte.

Step 2: Application to ​the School of Architecture (SoA):

• The SoA Admissions cycle begins October 1^st.

• Complete the SoA Application Portfolio using these guidelines. Email completed application portfolio in one PDF to SoA-Admissions@uncc.edu.

• Early applications are given priority in the SoA admissions process. Deadlines are as follows:

  • Early Action/Priority Review: November 1^st
  • Standard Review: December 1^st
  • Final Review: February 1^st

Important Reminders

• The SoA admits students for Fall semester only.

• The admissions process is competitive and not all students are selected.

• Do not wait for a final decision from the university before applying to the SoA; you can apply to both at once.

• If you apply to the SoA, but your application to UNC Charlotte remains incomplete after February 1^st, you will not be eligible for admission to the SoA.

• Application portfolios that do not meet the specifications outlined in the SoA Application Portfolio Guidelines document will not be evaluated.
