***UPDATE****

Dear Parents,

As you may know, the corona virus COVID-19 has caused UNC Charlotte to shut down extra events that occur on-campus. As a result, we will need to suspend rehearsals for UNC Charlotte's Children's Choir for at least the next two weeks, 16 and 23 March 2020. During the week of 23 March, we will evaluate the health situation on campus and let you know if we are going to resume rehearsals or not.

We want you to know that your child's and family's health is our utmost importance during this time. University administration is aware that performance-based events have a difficult time fulfilling requirements, too. However, the health and safety of our students, faculty, and our guests is of primary importance, and we thank you for understanding. The Department of Music at UNC Charlotte is again offering to elementary-aged children a free opportunity: the UNC Charlotte Children’s Choir. For fourteen (14) weeks beginning 27 January 2020 students in grades three through five may participate in a choral ensemble under the leadership of artistic director Ginger Wyrick. Professor Wyrick is widely sought-after choral conductor, pedagogue, and expert in children’s choral music and is leading the Children's Choir this year. This opportunity is being offered to students free of charge. University music education students will also assist in teaching the choir students.  Your child has been selected by your music teacher to participate in the Neighborhood Lab Choir, and I also invite your child to be a part of an exciting music making experience with Ms. Wyrick. Please fill out the registration and either mail or fax it to Fred Spano, or please bring it on the first day of rehearsals.

Rehearsals will be on the campus of UNC Charlotte in the Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts on Mondays, 4:45-6:00 beginning 27 January 2020.  Students may be dropped off at the front entrance of Robinson Hall and will be greeted by a Lab Choir Assistant (look for the adult wearing a name badge), and then picked up in the same location. At the end of the semester, a performance of the children’s work will be presented for parents and the community in the Anne R. Belk Theater in Robinson Hall on our campus.

Estimados padres de familia, miembros de la familia o guardiánes:

El Departamento de Música de UNC Charlotte vuelve a ofrecer a los niños de escuela primaria una oportunidad gratis: el Club del Coro Laboratorio del Niños (Children’s Lab Choir). Por catorce (14) semanas a partir 27 de enero 2020, los estudiantes de tercer a quinto grado participar en un conjunto coral bajo la dirección del director artístico del Ginger Wyrick. Profesor Wyrick es una directora coral muy respectada, pedagoga, y experta en música coral infantil y la dirgente del Laboratorio de Coro este año Esta oportunidad de participar en el coro se ofrece a los estudiantes sin ningún costo. Estudiantes de educación musical de la Universidad también ayudarán en la enseñanza de los estudiantes del coro.  Su hijo/a ha sido seleccionado/a por su maestro de música a participar en el Coro, y yo también les invito a su hijo/a a ser parte de una experiencia musical emocionante con la Sra. Wyrick. Por favor complete el formulario de inscripción y envíemelo por correo o fax, o por favor traerlo en el primer día de ensayos.

Los ensayos serán en el campus de UNC Charlotte en la Sala Robinson (Robinson Hall) los lunes, 4:45-6:00 pm a partir del 27 de enero, 2020. Los estudiantes pueden ser dejados en la entrada principal del Robinson Hall y serán recibido por un Asistente del Lab Choir (busque al adulto llevando una insignia "Children’s Choir "), y después se recogerán en el mismo lugar. Al final del semestre, los niños presentarán un concierto a los padres y la comunidad en el Ann R. Belk Theatre en Robinson Hall en nuestro campus.
